Earl Shilton Maple Way Play Space
Thank you for contributing your views. As a result, we have been successful in our application for Playbuilder funding for the Earl Shilton Maple Way Play Space.
PlayBuilder Award: With outstanding help from the Voluntary Action team, Earl Shilton Town Council has been awarded £50,000 in Playbuilder funding to provide new play equipment in Maple Way park. The scheme aims to equip parks with quality natural-play facilities.
The grant itself is intended to provide for a specific age range of 8 – 13 years old, but the Town Council have agreed to commit additional funds to provide equipment outside of this age range so that the park can remain as inclusive as possible. The project is expected to begin sometime in the summer of this year.
Great News – The Playbuilder Panel has given the go ahead for the Maple Way Park design
The design of the most popular items as voted by you - has been passed to suppliers for quotes.
The final design includes:
Three large Climbing Boulders, at least 1 boulder is 3metres high, A swinging item (there was no winner in the consultation for this item)
A mound connecting the Boulders and Spinning item.
Cableway (Zip wire) – with a natural mound for ‘take off’,
One tonne sitting rocks in the flower garden, with raised boundary planted with heather.
Flower garden at ground level
Raised boundary filled with heather around the sitting rocks.
Basket Swing between climbing boulders & flower area.
Large shrubs such as buddleia & rhododendron
A toddler’s area including a small roundabout, adventure play equipment and the existing toddler’s swings (to be relocated) will make the park inclusive of children outside of the Playbuilder age range. This is being funded by the Town Council.
It is hoped that work will be started before August.
Look out for updates on progress and the date & times of the Grand Opening
