Caring With Confidence

"I don't think of myself as a carer I just help my Mum."

Caring with Confidence is a FREE programme for carers. If you are looking after a friend or relative, Caring with Confidence can help and support you to make a positive difference to your life and that of the person you care for.
Caring with Confidence offers learning and development opportunities to help you build on your skills and knowledge which you can access through local group sessions or at home using workbooks or the internet.
The programme is available to carers aged 18 and over in England.

CLASP The Carers Centre

CLASP The Carers Centre is a registered charity which was set up in 1994 to provide a wide range of support services for carers living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Please click onto the links to the right to find out about our services.
Carers provide ongoing support to a relative, friend or neighbour who, due to ill health, long term condition or disability cannot manage without their help. Carers can be any age or sex, from all backgrounds and communities.
Caring responsibilities can include providing personal care (washing, bathing, dressing, feeding), cooking, housework, shopping, managing finances, helping with medication and injections, as well as providing emotional and social support. Carers are not paid for providing help, although some may be eligible for benefits.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers

Information, advice and support for carers. The Trust's has network of approximately a hundred Carers Centres in the UK.
The Princess Royal Trust for Carers was created on the initiative of HRH The Princess Royal in 1991. At that time people caring at home for family members or friends with disabilities and chronic illnesses were scarcely recognised as requiring support.
The Princess Royal Trust for Carers is the largest provider of comprehensive carers support services in the UK. Through its unique network of 144 independently managed Carers' Centres , 85 young carers services and interactive websites, www.carers.org and www.youngcarers.net, The Trust currently provides quality information, advice and support services to over 400,000 carers, including over 20,000 young carers.
In addition, The Trust also acts independently in the interests of carers through:
• Research, development and consultation
• Influence on national, regional and local policy

Database and Information Service

The Database and Information Service are an independent information service for parents/carers of children with special needs or a disability in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. They provide information about various organisations and services relevant to disabled children and their families.
If you are a young person with a disability or special needs, or a parent/carer, you can register by filling in a data collection form.
When you join the database you will receive an information pack and a regular newsletter (available on this site).

Family Information Service

Leicestershire’s Family Information Service (FIS) provides information, advice and guidance for families who have children or young people aged 0-20 years. They also provide this service to professionals who work with children, young people and families.

Leicestershire LINk is an independent network, which brings together people, organisations, community groups to give them a voice in improving Health and Social Care services. Leicestershire LINk is here to find out what people like and value about local services, identify gaps in services or to say how existing services can be improved.
The LINk will work closely with the Local Council or NHS Trusts and Hospitals. We will also work in partnership with LINks in neighbouring counties. There are seperate LINks for the City of Leicester, Rutland County and other surrounding counties.
The LINk joins people together to influence how services are run.
